Indie Extravaganza - Notoriously Morbid

I  recently placed an order with Notoriously Morbid, for an assortment of their mini sized shadows. I received a lovely package today, which was much needed after my day at the salt mine.

Look at all that fabulous loot! And CANDY.

I ordered from two collections, Little Melancholies and Show A Little Burlesque. The shadows are really lovely. Very pigmented, true to the colors represented on the website, and very easy to apply. The big surprise in my order was the Coffin Kissers. I added this at the last minute, because I have a lip balm addiction. I cannot pass up anything that claims to moisturize my lips and is vanilla scented. I have them everywhere. My work environment is very dry, and we can't have water "onstage" so I dry up like parchment paper. This is possibly THE BEST LIP BALM I HAVE EVER USED. Go buy some immediately. Don't look back. Buy more than one. Trust me - I know dry.

All shadows are swatched over Two Faced Glitter Glue eyeshadow primer, with a brush. Top Row L to R (I am still working on my swatch technique, as I have limited forearm for swatch fest :) Quiet In The Dark, Walks In The Moonlight, Forgotten Dreams, Tempest. Bottom Row L to R Rain On Cold Glass, British Blondes, Victorian Gypsy, Velvet Hammer

Top Row L to R Hearts Of Black Lace, Dita  Bottom Row  Sometimes My Arms Bend Back, Douglas Firs

I really did love them all, but favorites for me were Quiet In The Dark, Walks In The Moonlight, Tempest, Rain On Cold Glass, and British Blondes. British Blondes really surprised me. It looked YELLOW in the container, and swatched such a pretty goldy color that would be a perfect base for a simple winged liner look, or as the highlight in a halo look. I can't wait to wear it! Sometimes My Arms Bend Back was a sample included in this order and it is gorgeous. I may have to see if the full size is available. I could see using this often.

Overall I was super pleased with the quality of the product and will definitely order again. If you have never looked at Indie companies, give it a try. Great value for money and you support a small business. Win Win! What I love is that the smaller production allows them to try colors the major companies would never do.

Snail Essence !

I received my much anticipated package from Korea today. Thank you RoseRoseShop! It was pretty quick. After subbing to AsianBeauty on Reddit, I decided I needed to try some of this fabulous snail essence. I am sure it will live up to the hype - everything that is either prohibitively expensive or requires you to order from Asia is going to be good. If I could get it at SephUlta or Walgreens there is no chance it would work. I didn't get any samples, but that is my own damn fault because I forgot to ask in the note :(

The Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence is going to do about 50 things for my skin. Whiten, tighten, brighten, turn back the unrelenting hands of time...the Too Cool for School Gel Mist is just a hydrating mist that I ordered because I like to spray what is basically water on my face several times a day. Louisiana has provided me all this nice humidity and if it drops in any appreciable way, I dry out like a lizard on a hot rock.

For all of you who said "eww Snail" when I mentioned this product, it is a gel, but it does not feel or smell "Snaily." The snail essence actually has no discernible scent, and the gel mist is lightly fragranced with a basic face product type of scent. I love the gel mist. It feels like walking through one of those misters in the summer :) I will keep you updated on the progress of the Snail Bee Essence.

My First Indie Make Up Order - Geek Chic Cosmetics

I broke down and ordered some indie eyeshadows and a lipstick from Geek Chic Cosmetics recently. I have long lurked the Etsy shops and Instagrams of several indie brands, but have resisted ordering until I came across 2 collections on Geek Chic. One based on The Walking Dead and another based on Star Trek. I also ordered a single from the Doctor Who themed collection. I am a total lipstick junkie, so added one "Joystick" to the order as well.

My favorites so far are definitely "Stay in the House Carl" and "He's Korean" from This Is Not A Democracy and "Naked Wedding" and "Blood Wine" from To Go Boldly.

Please excuse the quickie swatches...I was impatient to see these. All swatches are on bare skin.

This Is Not A Democracy. L to R We're All Infected, Clementine Will Remember, Stay In The House Carl, He's Korean, I Ain't A Judas, You Best Pray I'm Dead.

L to R Timey Wimey We Are Coming which has some lovely blue sparkles that are not showing up here :( To Go Boldly Sleeping Bucket, Blood Wine, Continuum, Mind Meld, Naked Wedding, Galactically Banned Ale. The last swatch is Joystick in Farplane.

The shadows are very pigmented and smooth. From a quick test they blend easily. I LOVED the color of the lipstick, and while it is a tiny bit more balm -like than my usual lipsticks, I will definitely put this one in regular rotation. It smells like vanilla - I love that, but you have been warned:) The website is user friendly and everything arrived in a nice package and in a timely fashion. I love that too.

Overall my first indie purchase was very promising and I look forward to receiving some mail from Portland Black Lipstick Company shortly...
